Hide Those Unsightly Wires with These Tricks

Is your office, entertainment center, or charging station hiding a tangled mess of wires, cables, and cords? With nearly everything you own needing to be charged or plugged in to a power source, it is next to impossible to keep them all out of sight. Fortunately, you don't have to live with a pile of wires deeper than your ankle by every outlet. Here are some hacks for hiding those unsightly wires:

Under the desk is usually the first place in any office or home office that gets invaded by the wire pile. You could use cord clips to keep your wires in a more orderly row, but consider a cheaper option: binder clips. Simply clip a group of wires together, and then hang the binder clip by the wire handles on a nail or pin. Also, consider disguising wires altogether with painted cord covers or behind painted FlatWire that has been mounted to the wall. Consider a desk or side table that has built-in outlets to keep desktop cords from having to reach the wall.

What about all those routers, game consoles, and other bits that make your entertainment center look so messy? It's easy to cover an Internet router with a decorative box, and if you have lamps or other appliances near the wall, try hiding the cords behind a faux baseboard. If you are handy, you can feed cords for wall-mounted appliances through the wall, or hang a shower curtain rod cover and hid the wires inside that.

Finally, don't forget about the tried and true method of using a power strip that can be hidden inside a drawer or on a low shelf to keep all the wires out of sight. Then you only have one wire snaking out to attach to the wall, and that is much easier to hide!
