How Often Should You Change the Water Filter in Your Refrigerator

There are different types of refrigerators, the most common and preferable being refrigerators with water dispensing systems. If you own a fridge of this type, it is important that you know about the mechanism of the water dispenser and the available systems to ensure the water's purification.

Why Change the Water Filter?

A water filter, installed in the fridge's system, ensures that all the water gets to the dispenser without any impurities. However, after some time of continuous water, the impurities, including Chlorine and any other unforeseen elements, clog the water filter, in turn reducing its efficiency.

When this happens, impurities pass the water filter to the dispenser, which might cause some change in taste of the water. This is the main reason why you should change the water filter after some time. Some products have technology that notifies you on the appropriate time to change the water filter.

How Often You Should Change the Water Filter

There are certain variances in the time after which you should change the water filter for another one. For instance, if the filter filters out a certain type of impurity, such as chlorine only, you can use it for up to six months, after which you should change it for a new one.

In other cases, the water has unexpected impurities, which means that the water filter does more work than it is meant to. This means that you should change it after a period of around three to four months for best results.
